Food Handler with classroom instruction, book, & exam

  • LEVEL 1 Food Handler Certification- Level One Certification in Food Protection/Person-in-Charge (PIC) training. This 4 hr basic food handler training if for a person-in-charge at a food establishment. Person-in-charge means an individual present at a food establishment who is responsible for the operation at the time of inspection.
    ​Course Outline

    • At the conclusion of the Food Handler Training Certificate program, you should be able to:

    • Identify biological, physical, and chemical contamination.

    • Identify foodborne illnesses, signs of food spoilage, types of food prep contamination, and proper temperature control methods.

    • Safely store and prepare meat, poultry, and vegetables.

    • Demonstrate effective food handling techniques that promote cleanliness and safety in food establishments.

    • Discuss the importance of proper personal hygiene in the workplace.

    • Implement appropriate procedures to receive and store food.

    • ​Summarize practices for properly cleaning and sanitizing food contact materials and surface.

​Upon successful completion of the course and the exam, you will earn your food handler certificate of completion.  This certification must e renewed every two years.

  • SACE Consulting requires payment in full before your seat and/or appointment is reserved or confirmed in any of our Food Safety Classes. All classes start promptly at the time and location specified . SACE Consulting requires a 24 hour notification if you will not be attending a class or exam session. If there is no notification or you do not show up for a class or appointment, there is a $25.00 fee to reschedule. 

    SACE Consulting reserves the right to cancel a class or appointment due to low enrollment, inclement weather or other circumstances which would make the event non-viable. Cancellations due to inclement weather will be announced through email and/or text. Should SACE Consulting cancel a class, registrants will be offered registration in a future class at no additional cost.

    It is a requirement of Ohio Food Safety Education Services that Electronic devices and their use be limited to break times during class. ABSOLUTELY NO ELECTRONIC DEVICES WILL BE PERMITTED DURING THE EXAMINATION SESSION! Use of these devices during the Examination session will be considered as cheating. Any cheating during the examination is grounds for dismissal without refund and refusal of future testing as per National Restaurant Association Policies.

    A VALID ID OR DRIVERS LICENSE IS REQUIRED FOR THE CERTIFICATION EXAM, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO TAKE THE EXAM WITHOUT IT!!
